Company

Farfalli company is located in Maniago, a town which is famous worldwide for its production of knives and cutlery in general.

After the World War II, many artisan shops, were iron and blades were worked, were founded.

Farfalli was founded in June 1950 by Marino Farfalli, who had previously worked in a big cutlery. The production began with the manufacturing of pocket knives (gadgets for tourists): pictures of the most important Italian cities were printed on those kinves, as tourism was developing a lot in Italy after WW2. Within a few years, the reference market expanded from Italy to the whole worls; production was diversified and other promotional articles began to be manufactured, including pocket and waiter's corkscrews. The request for these goods was growing and, in the 70s, corkscrew manufacturing became the main activity of the company. Farfalli began specilizing in this field by studying innovative solutions and new models, and it now features a wide selection fo corkscrews which range from plastic to wooden to stainless steel products. The company was later managed by Marino's sons Giovanni, Mario, Germano and Armando. From year 2000, Farfalli is managed by Marino's nephew Daniele.

The goal has always been to provide a quality and useful product. This is achieved by always keeping the production process monitored, from the purchase and selection of raw material to the design of the dies, to the assembly system and to the finish of the corkscrew, in order to always guarantee the quality of the final product.

Farfalli exports its vast range of products worldwide (from promtional articles to professional corkscrews, from professional sommelier's tools to precious gift and collection objects).

A galvanic field developed as well inside the company. At the beginning it was just the nickel-plating of some products, and now it's a separate activity of workings on customer's drwaing. This field of Farfalli, which operated with the NichelChrom trademark, is in constant evolution. As a warranty of the improvements in the services offered to its customers, the company reached the UNI EN ISO 9001-2000 quality certification in year 2000.

Farfalli is always looking for new models, of the highest quality, with the use of innovative materials such as aluminum, carbon fiber, titanium. Very careful to new design it has developed an important project with the design school of Pordenone (ISIA). The search for new solutions to facilitate the uncorking operation has lead to the development of two important levers systems patented: the dual-axis mechanism and a double lever system (Farfalli DLS).

DOUBLE AXIS SYSTEM

The extraction of the first 2 cm of the cork (the most difficult part) now requires much less effort due to the reduced distance between axis A and pin S (1st rest). During the single “pulling-out” movement, force is automatically transferred from A to B (2nd rest). The length of the lever progressively increases until the cork is pulled out. During extraction the cork stays perfectly vertical. This results in less effort and no cork breakage.

DOUBLE LEVER MECHANISM (FARFALLI DLS)

Insert the spiral into the cork till the middle of the first winding. Set the first step of the lever on the bottle-neck (1st rest) and pull out the first part of the cork. Set the second step in uncorking position (2nd rest) and press the tail-part of the lever firmly against the bottle neck making the joint snap outwards. Complete uncorking.
